CSU LONG BEACH LA 2, 3, & 4 Seismic Strengthening

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA

The LA 2, 3 and 4 project consisted of a complete renovation and seismic strengthening of three, two-story classroom buildings originally constructed in the 1950’s. The buildings have concrete one-way pan joists at the roof and floor levels, perimeter concrete columns, and concrete and masonry shear walls as the lateral force-resisting system. The buildings are founded on conventional spread and continuous footings.

The renovation included the addition of shear walls and infill, new windows and ADA upgrades to ramps, walkways and balconies, HVAC and electrical/telecom upgrades.
