UCSD CENTER FOR NOVEL THERAPEUTICS

San Diego, CALIFORNIA

The project consists of providing approximately 725 linear feet of glass guards with handrails at the new Center for Novel Therapeutics Building at University of California, San Diego. The building is a three-story building with basement with guards at the second and third floor. Several of the guards on the second floor are exterior and exposed to wind loading. Glass guards were bolted to the outside face of the concrete floor and stair structure as well as to the side of 6-7/8-inch thick cross Laminated Timber Deck (LTD) at the bridge structures. Structural services included the design of the glass guards, handrails, and their attachments to the concrete floor structure and wood bridge.
