ThrowbackThursday to a project that helped shape the future of Irvine Valley College’s campus.

MHP was proud to be part of the McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and Perkins Eastman design-build team selected to deliver the first building for the Advanced Technology & Education Park—an iconic facility intended to set the architectural and performance standards for the College’s future 68-acre campus expansion.

This 30,000 sq. ft. building was designed to support innovation, collaboration, and hands-on learning. The structure includes a tall, one-story fabrication shop and lab wing, paired with a two-story administrative and classroom wing. A high-volume central lobby connects the spaces, creating a flexible environment for collaboration and instructional presentations.

Designed with a LEED Gold programming goal, the building incorporates passive energy strategies, ample natural light, and energy-efficient systems to support long-term sustainability and performance.

Construction was completed in December 2017, with the official opening following in April 2018. The project was led by MHP Principal Kenneth O’Dell, S.E., and Associate/Project Manager Daniel Fox, S.E., whose leadership helped bring the vision to life.

Projects like this reflect MHP’s commitment to delivering thoughtful structural solutions that support inspiring spaces for education and innovation.
