ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOL OF THE ARTS

Santa Ana, California

Orange County School of the Arts, Dance, Music & Science Center is a two-story, 60,000-square-foot masonry structure housing 8 science classrooms, 3 music rehearsal halls and 14 dance studios.  The footprint of the structure is U-shaped with a court yard at the center.  Second floor framing consists of prefabricated steel joists supporting concrete over steel decking.  Composite construction was utilized with deep steel joists in order to control sensitive vibration requirements for the dance rehearsal halls located at the second floor level.

Roof framing consists of metal deck spanning to prefabricated steel joists and the design included allowances for roof mounted solar panels.  Established in 1987, the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) provides a creative, challenging and nurturing environment that offers bright and talented students unparalleled preparation for high education and a profession in the arts.
