LBMMC TODD CANCER PAVILION

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA

The Long Beach Memorial Medical Center (LBMMC) Todd Cancer Pavilion includes a new three-story structure connected to an existing four-story building. The new structure is steel-framed with special moment frames for lateral resistance. Through detailed computer modeling, MHP matched the lateral stiffness with the new and existing structures, thus avoiding the need for a seismic joint between buildings

Design for second and third floors spaces at the existing administration building included an 800-square-foot glass curtain wall, new elevator, vehicular canopy, rooftop air handling unit and a feature lobby skylight.

Anchorage design for equipment and wall / ceiling connections throughout was also provided.
