Kachun Choi, PE joined MHP’s San Diego office in 2020 after earning his B.S. in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University and his M.S. in Structural Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. As a Project Engineer, he has played a key role in building design, seismic retrofits, and construction support across a range of projects.
In addition to his technical contributions, Kachun helps strengthen client relationships, support construction teams, and foster a positive and collaborative team environment at MHP.
Some of his recent project accomplishments include two senior living facilities currently under construction: Rancho Cucamonga Flatiron, a one-story, 39,400 square foot memory care building with 64 units, and Sunrise of Long Beach, a two-story, 80,000 square foot assisted living and memory care facility with 90 residential units. Both facilities are expected to open in early 2027.
Currently, Kachun is working on several projects, including Sunrise Senior Living of San Marcos, California, a three-story assisted living facility with approximately 84 residential units; Marshall Elementary School for the San Diego Unified School District, which is undergoing a comprehensive campus modernization that includes a major remodel and rehabilitation of the existing Administration/Auditorium building, and minor renovations to three existing classroom buildings; and a new single-story First Citizens Bank branch in Anaheim, California.
When he’s not in the office, Kachun enjoys spending time at the beach, kayaking in the bay, and indoor climbing, an activity he recently picked back up after a few years away.
We’re grateful for Kachun’s contributions over the past six years and look forward to his continued growth and leadership as we expand our San Diego office.
