The LEED Gold Zinnia project was developed in response to the rising cost of housing across Southern California. The ground-up project includes 72 units of affordable housing across three garden style 3- and 4-story buildings. Zinnia spans 89,000 square feet and includes a playground, dog park, outdoor patio space and community center offering supportive services to help residents with employment readiness, financial literacy, health, wellness and fitness. The project provides 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units to impact lives of individuals and families in need. Zinnia was selected as a winner of the 2018 City of Signal Hill Beautification Awards.
The lower level podium, which is cut into the sloping hillside site, provides a parking garage and site retainage. Built over the garage and on conventional foundation, the project was designed and constructed with conventional wood framing.
