MHP Services: Structural Design and Seismic Retrofit

Project Status: Over 300 Stores Since 1999

Since 1999, MHP has fostered a strong relationship with Target Corporation, having offered structural engineering services to their chosen Architects. Engineers at MHP have completed hundreds of new design and remodel projects throughout the United States.

Working within the prototype Target store to remodel and create new facilities. MHP consistently provides structural engineering services for the specific stores’ needs, while providing cost effective solutions to unique non-prototypical conditions.

Projects range from 20,000 square foot remodel expansions to 184,000 square foot new multi-level stores. The buildings generally consist of CMU masonry or concrete tilt-up shear wall construction with metal deck, open web steel joist and girder roof framing systems. The multi-level stores often include parking at grade with retail space above.

MHP has assisted Target in establishing new stores in existing mall anchor locations and urban retail/office buildings. The latter urban in-fill projects often include detailed seismic evaluations and subsequent seismic strengthening as a major component of the rehabilitation.
