The project entails new structures to house the Planetarium Dome, the Foucault Pendulum exhibit, and ancillary spaces to support a small retail center, public restrooms and staff offices. The Planetarium will provide educational opportunities for local elementary school students, college astronomy classes, and planetarium shows for the local community. The structurally complex building features structural steel framing radiating from a concrete planetarium dome. The Foucault pendulum display, first introduced in Paris in 1851, is a simple device that demonstrates the rotation of the earth.
