MHP provided the structural design and coordination for Bell Elementary School which is a Type V building with wood framed bearing and shearwalls and prefabricated joists. This project was designed as a 900-student year-round campus on 5.2 acres. The site provided street frontage on only one side forcing a combination of on-site and street drop off to separate kindergarten drop off from the older children.
A compact footprint consisting of a combination of single and double story buildings was developed to maximize available play yards, while respecting the residential scale of the neighborhood and desired “elementary school” image.
Design & calculations included overall structural design for new buildings and all mechanical, plumbing and electrical equipment support.
