Size: 10,370 Square Feet

The project consists of a remodel and seismic strengthening of the 1940’s wood-framed aircraft hangar. Structural design services included restoration of deteriorated wood framing and new lateral structural support elements, including new plywood sheathed wood stud shear walls and strengthening of the existing sheathing attached to the roof structure. New foundation elements, shear transfer connections, and diaphragm drag elements were provided for the new shear walls. Strengthening measures were designed to accommodate the existing architectural finishes that were to remain. MHP also provided structural analysis and strengthening of the existing roof truss bottom (tension) chords.
