Fountain Square Sierra Madre is a two story senior living facility housing assisted living and memory care units, with a large retail component at the ground level. Building framing consists of wood I-joists at the 2nd floor and trussed rafters at the roof level.  Wood stud walls are utilized for both bearing and shearwalls for the majority of the building. Included within the first floor areas are large retail spaces with glass store fronts necessitating the use of steel moment frames for lateral resistance. Due to higher grades at adjacent properties, 12-to-16 foot tall retaining walls occur at the north property line utilizing shotcrete walls supported by drilled concrete caissons.
