MHP, Inc. has a long relationship with the Asian Development Bank, and has assisted them with Peer Review and Seismic Evaluation services for several facilities throughout the world. The Bank’s Headquarters in Manila, Philippines encompass a total of 1,400,000 square feet and include  a nine-story office tower over two subterranean levels, a two-story cafeteria building, a two-story facilities building over two subterranean levels, all constructed circa 1989 in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila.  MHP completed site observations, research and review of seismic hazards, review of original drawings, detailed calculations and computer analysis, and a report on findings with recommendations.

To evaluate the expected seismic performance of the buildings, a detailed analysis was completed following the general procedures outlined in ASCE/SEI 31-03. The buildings and primary lateral elements were mathematically modeled using three dimensional linear dynamic procedures for the defined earthquake ground motion. The detailed analysis evaluated the structures’ ability to meet both a Life Safety performance level and an Immediate Occupancy performance level, for the designated earthquake hazard level.
