The project scope included an ASCE 41 Tier 1 seismic evaluation, a Tier 3 evaluation with modeling, and subsequent seismic strengthening plans. MHP reviewed several retrofit options with the project’s owner, and a fluid viscous damper retrofit solution was selected to address excessive seismic drift and overstress conditions throughout building frame members.
Coinciding with the office building’s retrofit, MHP designed a lobby upgrade and other interior and exterior site improvements including a new entry canopy, hardscape and glazing replacement.
