The project consists of a 12-story concrete-framed office building over three subterranean levels. The building encloses approximately 146,000 square feet and is located in Beverly Hills, California. MHP conducted an ASCE 41 Tier 1 seismic evaluation as well as Tier 3 evaluation with modeling, which indicated excessive seismic drift and overstress conditions in many frame members.
MHP reviewed several retrofit options with the owner, and ultimately designed a fluid viscous damper retrofit, which is undergoing construction as of March 2019. Coinciding with the retrofit, MHP designed a lobby upgrade and other interior and exterior site improvements including a new entry canopy, hardscape and glazing replacement.
