MHP Welcomes Yoshitaka (Taka) Tamiya & Reihaneh Sarraf!

Yoshitaka Tamiya, M.S., P.E. | Project Engineer

As a project engineer, Yoshitaka (Taka) Tamiya is responsible for the evaluation and design of new buildings with complex structural systems and seismic retrofits.

Prior to joining MHP, Yoshitaka was with Degenkolb Engineers from 2014 to February 2019, where he conducted non-linear analyses including a six-story, 300,000-square-foot steel moment frame hospital, provided means-and-methods support for a $2.6 billion Southern California stadium project and designed a wide range of projects under OSHPD jurisdiction.

Yoshitaka holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from The University of California, San Diego.

Apart from Degenkolb, his previous work experience includes internships at the multinational professional services firm Arup in Tokyo, Japan and Lionakis in Sacramento, California.



Reihaneh Sarraf, Ph.D., P.E. | Project Engineer/Analyst

Dr. Reihaneh Sarraf is a California Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a Ph.D. in Earthquake and Structural Engineering. With a strong background in non-linear static and dynamic analysis, along with professional experience in seismic design and evaluation of various structures, Reihaneh supports MHP on complex projects.

Her past project experience includes the seismic retrofit of the 1,000,000-square-foot Grand Mosalla of Tehran, more than 20,000 analyses of curved box-girder bridges and design of building and nonbuilding structures, including the Las Vegas Monorail and Las Vegas Monorail West Extension.

Dr. Sarraf completed her Ph.D. at the University of Nevada-Reno, and holds a master’s degree in Earthquake and Structural Engineering and bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology – Tehran Polytechnic. She is a member of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) with published work in several respected trade journals.
