MHP - Structural Engineers
Partners

The strength of MHP lies within the Partners' and Senior Managers' ability to pave the way for excellence through the guidance, experience and talents each contribute to the team.

Ken O’Dell joined the firm in 1989.  With years of experience in the structural engineering field and a creative approach to business and design, he brings a seasoned freshness to MHP.  In addition to his daily obligations within the Design group, Ken facilitates corporate marketing efforts and provides oversight for human resource issues. He is a licensed Structural Engineer in California and Oregon.

As one of three Partners managing the design team, client relations and staff guidance are two of Ken’s main responsibilities at MHP.  He is committed to providing his team of engineers with the necessary tools and opportunities to excel in meeting project demands while satisfying clients.  With a diverse range of experience, he has been heavily involved in projects including commercial office buildings, K-12 schools, big box retail, and multi-family housing projects.

Ken attributes his accomplishments in the design group to his philosophy that great benefits come from thinking “outside” the box.  Through his work and leadership, he demonstrates a strong desire to look beyond the fine lines of engineering to develop creative solutions to meet clients' needs.  A proactive approach anticipating these needs allows Ken to remain committed to quality and dedicated to all aspects of the project team including clients, architects and contractors.

Ken graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering.  He has been invited to participate in the Curriculum Advisory Council program at his alma mater.  He is a member of Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC), AISC and ASCE.  Ken lives in Long Beach with his wife and daughter.  He enjoys collecting art, attending theatre, and taking frequent trips to the Santa Fe Opera.
