MHP Structural Engineers is a growing 40+ person firm located in Long Beach & San Diego, CA. We offer challenging and exciting projects in a relaxed and professional environment. Our work includes a great variety of project types in the education, hospital, and commercial sectors. MHP is large enough to tackle projects of any size, yet small enough to provide personalized service. We have core beliefs in strong communication, fostering employee growth, and serving the community. We are passionate about Making Buildings Safe.
MHP’s internship program goals are two-fold: Our first goal is to expose current MS of BS students, studying in the field of Structural Engineering with emphasis in Building Design, to the structural engineering profession. In order to achieve this goal, we team up interns with experience principals, project managers and project engineers to take on tasks based upon the engineers’ capabilities. These tasks could include smaller projects, smaller parts of larger projects, computer modeling, and construction administration. Mentoring plays a key role in the development of our interns and providing opportunities for joining in a site visit, client meeting, or structural observation, are an integral part of the summer program to expose our interns to the industry. Our second goal is to expose the intern to the culture of our firm with our ultimate goal of re- hiring our interns after graduation.
